She chose to leave her wonderful man Frank who can give everything she desires. But instead she chose to stay in this imposing town with her father and with her promise, which she made to her mother. In 1859 Emily Dickinson wrote a poem about death. In 1861 she rewrote that poem with very dissimilar imagery making it a lot darker. The poem itself is rather short, only two stanzas.
